Using reactions to engage with your team 

Our mission here at Range is to help teams work better together. That requires teams to build healthy habits that foster team effectiveness, like open communication and finding a sense of purpose. Using reactions is a great way to keep lines of communication open and to see the impact of your work. 

What are reactions and when can I use reactions?

Reactions are a simple way to acknowledge a check-in item. Whether you want to say thank you, celebrate a win, or give support when things don’t go according to plan; you can use a reaction to communicate your response to the check-ins your teammates share.  

How do I use reactions? 

You can react any time someone you follow shares a check-in. To add a reaction  

hover over a check-in item, click on the smile icon then choose a reaction from the emoji picker.

Why should I use reactions?

Reactions help teams communicate, reflect on their work, and see the impact of their contributions. 

⭐Uncover Important Work

Using reactions helps surface work that might not have been a main focus, but got a lot of attention from your team. 

On the check-ins page in your Range workspace, in the summary view, you can see the check-in items that received the most reactions and comments for each past week and month. Scroll down to find the "Highlights" card.

This allows you to see what work was well received by others or what work your team found to be most important.

⭐Build Healthy Team Habits

Using reactions in Range helps to build healthy habits. When someone gives a reaction to your check-in you’re likely to interact with and react to their check-ins too. Because of this, reactions help to establish: 

  • Open Communication -- We’ve found that regular, open communication is key for team effectiveness. Building a strong team requires feedback, recognition, and support. Reactions are a quick way to meet those needs and initiate ongoing communication.

  • Meaning -- Finding purpose in the work that you do is essential to your success.  With reactions, you can see that people are aware of and appreciate the work that you do. When you give a reaction you’re helping your team to find meaning in their work by acknowledging their contributions.
